The Sell It Great Tip Line

LETTING YOU SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER(POINT). ANONYMOUSLY.

What the big idea?

It starts like this:

“Yeah, my boss insists on…” or sometimes “At our agency the standard is…”

…then continues with some incredibly ass-backward, face-palm-worthy, presentation faux-pas.

I then explain what should be done instead, which invariably produces the line:

“You should tell my boss that.”

There’s a few problems with this, of course.

  1. I don’t always have a relationship with said boss.

  2. Even if I do, they’re pretty busy, which makes getting a hold of them difficult.

  3. Denial’s not just a river in Egypt. (Dad joke kids, look it up).

One of the difficulties of being an employees is that you can’t always speak the truth to your boss without getting penalized for it.

One of the difficulties of being a boss is that you want the truth, but people won’t always give it to you. (Whether the above fear is valid or not, it’s all the same)

So this way, I’m gonna put words out there. If you’re an employee who finds it relevant, then maybe the link finds it’s way into your company slack channel.

And if you’re a boss, maybe you make a habit of reading them. Because it’s probably not pertaining to you. But if it does you can just spontaneously make the change without admitting to anything.

So use the totally anonymous form above to write what your boss/agency needs to hear. And I’ll do my best to get you heard.
